In 2017 Corfu Airport and other 13 regional airports were privatized to Fraport. For the next 40 years, with the potential of a 10-year extension, it will be managed by the German Company. Fraport in Greece began implementing renovation projects immediately upon taking over the airport and Ioannis Kapodistrias Airport was modernized and developed.

Nowadays 48 airlines operate out of the Airport with destinations all over the world.
